Validation of Spinal Cord Injury Sensory Deficit Model with Head-Fixed Rat

چکیده
Background/Objective: Numerous studies have reported restoring motor function through spinal cord stimulation in a rodent injury model; however, replicating sensory information has not been thoroughly tested. We previously trained rats to detect artificial sensations which lead the question if this can be generated injured rat. Our study begins address by first validating model test. hypothesis is decrease percent correct response compared pre-procedure observed, then will verify loss dorsal column lesion of injury.
Methods: We use detection head-fixed rat deficit model. begin placing water-deprived into custom-made head-fix set up where two water spouts are placed front Vibration stimuli applied hind paw via vibration at 200 hz ± 50 hz. The associate stimulus with left spout and no right spout. Correct recorded once demonstrates detection, undergoes hemi-section procedure. Post procedure, back repeat behavioral experiment.
Results: Thus far, only habituation training completed following steps include training, hemi section, re doing measure difference rate.
Conclusion Potential Impact:This crucial step for research as confirms allow further testing restore sensation. After validation, we sensation using cord.

Microglial Activation in Rat Experimental Spinal Cord Injury Model
Background: The present study was designed to evaluate the secondary microglial activation processes after spinal cord injury (SCI). Methods: A quantitative histological study was performed to determine ED-1 positive cells, glial cell density, and cavitation size in untreated SCI rats at days 1, 2, and 4, and weeks 1, 2, 3, and 4. Results: The results of glial cell quantification along the 4900...

متن کاملFrequency of Phantom Pain among patients with Spinal Cord Injury
Summary: Background: Patients with spinal cord injury (SCI) usually have permanent and often devastating neurologic deficits and disability and pain (1). According to the National Institutes of Health, "among neurological disorders, the cost to society of automotive SCI is exceeded only by the cost of mental retardation"(2). Neurogenic pain constitutes one of the enigmatic clinical sy...
متن کاملHyperbaric oxygen treatment of spinal cord injury in rat model
BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to investigate the therapeutic effects and mechanisms of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) treatment on rats following spinal cord injury (SCI). METHODS A total of 45 Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats were randomly divided into three groups. Sham-SCI group was surgically exposed but not subjected to the SCI procedure. SCI-control group was administered SCI and treated wi...
